I… Now I feel about 10x more embarrassed about the fact that I watch gossip girl just because they do. But I need my weekly fix in order to focus on reading Foucault, Delantry Marx and Durkheim the rest of the week.
Please say it’s ok, Charlie.
Nice.
We all need some fluff in our lives! I don’t do TV, but music lets me escape from dense reading. Lucky you it’s in English, I was so brilliant as to decide to do French lit…
No – never! I didn’t know who he was either. Felt a little sheepish because I had to google ‘Chuck Bass’ but once I saw ‘who’ he was, I felt better about myself. Just think of all the things you know about that the girls do not…like the Bible and the fact that there is more than one Georgia, you know, stuff that matters.
So funny story! I am at work and this guy walks in who looks just like you. I didn’t think before I acted but I shouted your name they guy turns around and we both just stare at each other before i realize you live in L.A. And I live in Utah. So, I tell guy “sorry wrong Charlie.” He just smiles and asks “Dear Girls Above me?”
Also, I’ve been meaning to thank you. I moved in with six other girls who give remind me so much of the GAM! Without you, I would’ve had no idea what I was getting myself into after meeting them. (Thanks to you, and them, I knew people like this truly existed)
if you ever move(please don’t) or if they move please tell them about this
or at least leave a sign on their door saying “please visit deargirlsboveme.com, I hope youre not mad. You made a lot of peoples days.
Love Charlie, the creepy guy below you that listens to your conversations and posts them on the internet.”
(:
second. Charlie, you should totally do this the day you escape/they leave. As a sort of parting “you make me feel so very much better about myself because you’re so dumb.”
I’m sorry but I have to admit this, i’m a teensy bit in love with chuck bass. Please do not stereotype me in with these girls. I love you too though Charlie don’t feel threatened.
This is a wonderful little system we’ve built here.
On the front page, we have a bunch of petty girls who are obsessed with making themselves popular and attractive.
On the comments page, we have some pseudo-intellectuals who are perhaps as petty, only their cultural references are what they deem to be of higher quality. Still, they are largely obsessed with being popular and attractive, if only in the context of this site (and Charlie).
Charlie: Keep up the good work. It’s a joy to read.
Commentators: Whether you read Foucault, or think of Charlie Brown before Chuck Bass, take a look at the front page and realize that you don’t want to be anachronistic versions of them. Be relevant by your own rites.
Stepping down off the soapbox. Just felt compelled to mention the hypocrisy.
When I see your post, I understand you are representing about me. Motivating issue, I discover myself in your post. How do you success to compose like you are each person?
Thank you for the sensible critique. Me and my neighbor were just preparing to do some research about this. We got a grab a book from our local library but I think I learned more from this post. I am very glad to see such great information being shared freely out there.
haha wow of course they would say that
first! i always wanted to do this ahahha WOW! you talked to them?!
oh and who is Chuck Bass?
It could be the Chuck Bass off of gossip girl???? As in Charles Bartholomew “Chuck” Bass.
hahaha what a social faux pa.
LOL, that was the first thing I said too!
i googled it. ahahah first thing i saw was “gossip girl”, so i guess so . . .
wait, do these girls have any clue you’re writing a blog about them?
They probably would have talked to him about it or at least learned to be quieter…. but then maybe not.
I had to google Chuck Bass. That’s how cool I am.
bbwwwahaha. I first said who/what’s a Chuck Bass and I immediately googled it too!
Now armed with knowledge, You “should have” said “He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother” and walked away…

Lucky me… English happens to be my third language.
Reading this made my having to go to design class for the next few hours more
bearable. Thank you GAM and of course, Charlie.
Much love.
I would remember you Charlie :)
Chuck Bass? These girls need to be exposed to more intellectual material. Take me for example; I would have thought of Charlie Brown.
I don’t even know who Chuck Bass is…should I feel ignorant because the girls are more up to date on their pop culture than I?

Oh my gosh! that is super funny! thats as funny as some of Charlie’s posts! You made my day! haha!
That’s the best thing I’ve heard in quite sometime. hahaha.

LOL! That’s hilarious!

Thank you for stepping down willingly. I’m sure someone would have kicked it out from under you if you hadn’t.
I know you have a very good point and all, but none of us really want the elephant in the room to be addressed again.
The Charlie Brown comment was sarcastic, but you are very much right. Point Aaron.
if only they knew what you wrote about them… oh well
“DUDE! I’M CHUCK BASS!” so sick of the Gossip Girl- loving GAM
