wiki is a terrible source. NASA seems to think that it WILL be visible here. i am terribly sorry, but i do believe ill take NASAs word for it over randoms of the world on a public website anybody can post and change on.
one would hope that two such immortal beings would have spent enternity learning and reading.
in addition, i would assume immmortals would not use the word ‘gaysville.’
I had the craziest dream last night that I was one of the last people on Earth because some disaster had struck. I don’t know what it was, but mostly everthing was gone. I heard laughing, so I turn around….and there were the Girls Above You! They said something like, “Wonder if the hairy guy made it.” But I was forced to make friends with them because they had food. It was all really vague though, I don’t remember what they looked like or anything. I just remember me having to explain to them that “No, Hollister is NOT open.” It was awful. :(
I had a dream about them about a month ago. They lived in my college dorm building on my hall and Charlie lived on the hall below us. Then we all ate dinner together. It was more exciting than it sounds.
actually a solstice lunar eclipse makes the moon appear to be a nice dark red, like blood. It’s referred to as a blood moon. Around 3:15 it was supposedly the deepest and most compelling shades of red, but I had universal cloud cover. I was depressed.
I’m curious as to the physics behind why a solstice eclipse would be a lovelier red than any other one. Many eclipses are a nice blood red. I can’t see why the solstice would have anything to do with that. As a self-proclaimed physics geek, I’d love to know the physics behind it.
put your train of thought into the fact that it is the longest night of the year…it’ll come to you! and I saw it…froze my butt off but totally worth every second of it…Most beautiful thing ever! normal eclipses or an orangy red, solstice eclipses are more of a true blood red…can’t wait for the next one…I will purposely live 1000 years just so I can see another natural occurance…I’m sure I’ll see another solcist eclipse in that time… ;D
First, STOP saying “fail” to every post Charlie puts up! If you think they are not true…Don’t read them.
Second, the lunar eclipse that happened last night, happened on the solstice, which will not occur until December 21, 2485. So NO, she will not be able to catch it next year.
That’s because you forgot a key word, there, moron. a solstice lunar eclipse would only be happening on the solstice. I don’t know my moons, but from reading all the comments, that won’t be happening again next year. Know your damn facts before you judge. -.-
I don’t recall ever saying “fail” in one of these posts before. And the next one is 2084. While highly unlikely, it is possible that she could see the next one.

Idk when the next solstice lunar eclipse is but I was super bummed I couldn’t see it last night. And it was my dads b-day too. Ah well, guess I’ll see the next one from heaven. >.<
I highly doubt that. He probably doesn’t care what we talk about. He probably gets a kick reading all of our posts and comments so matter what they are. So :P
Hey, atleast you have snow. I live in Florida: the place where it’s hot, rainy, never snows, and you can never have a decent hair day because of the humidity.
Jacky Faber: Midshipman, Fine Lady, and Lily of the West says:
Especially because I have curly hair that’s already really…poofy for lack of a better term. So humidity deffinately doesn’t help my situation at all. Plus, there’s no hills or mountains here! The list goes on…
It was crisp and clear from my house in Fairbanks, Alaska. I watched the whole thing. It was great..though my iPod wouldn’t take good pictures..i really wished i had my camera but thats at my bf’s house lol
wow….
as long as it is not twilight related.
Like.
The next eclipse will be 15.06.2011, so she wasn’t wrong!
Ah, but that’s not a solstice lunar eclipse, moreover, it won’t be visible in North America: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Visibility_Lunar_Eclipse_2011-06-15.png
You shouldn’t use Wikipedia as a source…just sayin’
In response to Sarah’s post: Like. She is very very true.

Maybe they’re immortal.
Explains how they lived this long.
Nice.

Oh dear lord! That’s not a crazy dream, it’s a nightmare!
The first dream ever about GAM…well at least from a reader…I have them all the time.
I had a dream about them about a month ago. They lived in my college dorm building on my hall and Charlie lived on the hall below us. Then we all ate dinner together. It was more exciting than it sounds.
It was cloudy where I live, and my brother said the same thing…
It has been cloudy and rainy for a little over than a week where I am and I couldn’t see it either. X.x I was quite sad.
If my dream was bad and I don’t even know them, I don’t even want to THINK about the ones you have…
Ignorance, thy name is DGAM (the bimbos, not Charlie)
i stayed up late, even though i had to get up early in the morning and i couldn’t see anything D; stupid clouds…
It’s okay, Bellatrix. The Dark Lord sent for more dementors last night. It’s worth it for Muggle hunting.
Like.
:) I just learned how to do one of those! Honestly, you Muggles were on the right track with this Interwebs thing.
well, in all fairness to the girls, it doesn’t look any different than a normal lunar eclipse.

Fail Charlie, fail! lunar eclipses don’t just happen on the solstice, so yes, she will probably be able to catch one next year.

I believe the correct term that Mit always uses is “shenanigans”….which is still really annoying.

Yes Mit she may very well see the next one, when she’s in her 90s, but that most certainly won’t be next year.

missed it too, i had set my alarm at 2:30 am and went outside but it was too cloudy
Hey Charlie…did you stay up?
I was asleep by 10:30. I know, I know, I’m cool. Whatever, it’s just who I am.
The eclipse was the the most wonderful gift I could have received on my birthday!! Thanks universe

Happy belated birthday!
i think i am actually in love with you your amazing

Why are you guys so weird? You’re taking a great blog and turning it into a freakshow forum. I’m sure Charlie agrees.
I highly doubt that. He probably doesn’t care what we talk about. He probably gets a kick reading all of our posts and comments so matter what they are. So :P
Why are /you/ so judgmental? Nerds, unite! ^_^
rainy california had to miss the eclipse….gotta love live feed on the interwebs though!!
I also missed it because of the damn snow clouds. -3-
Hey, atleast you have snow. I live in Florida: the place where it’s hot, rainy, never snows, and you can never have a decent hair day because of the humidity.
Preach it sister. I’ve got the same problem. X.x Just not in Florida.
haha poor girls

But alicia, living in florida means you
Have the harry potter theme park! Insane
Jealous<3
Ps, charlie, love your blog, I read it whenever
I can :D
True. It’s only a 2 1/2 hour drive from my house, at that.
Idaho people…Idaho! ;D
Actually, that was the first eclipse on winter solstice in 400 years, not the first eclipse in 400 years. She will get to see another one in her life.
