Prop 8 an amendment to the Cali Constitution that defined marriage as being between a man and a woman. The people of California voted yes to Prop 8 waaaay back in 2008, and it was finally declared unconstitutional since it limited the rights of certain people.
It has to do with gay marriage. A few years ago, California voters decided to change the state’s constitution to define marriage as being between a man and a woman. It passed and essentially outlawed gay marriage. There are a lot of other issues and debates surrondingc prop 8 that still divides California (but to give you an unbiased viewpoint I won’t list them here). This is still very relevant and extremely controversial. I recommend that you really look in to it. Even if you don’t live in California, it’s something that people should be aware of.
